This past April, Jason C., a current YES Abroad student in Senegal, assisted American Councils in implementing a two-week language camp for next year’s YES Inbound students. Seventeen Senegalese finalists and alternates traveled to Thies, Senegal, to meet Jason and other staff members for the English Language Immersion and Orientation Camp. The main goal of this camp is to enhance the Senegalese students’ language skills, prepare them for a successful exchange year in the United States, and introduce the YES finalists from Senegal to one another.

Jason acted as a mentor to the YES program finalists and assisted the instructors during their sessions. He also provided students with information on life in the U.S., American high schools, and his own exchange year.

Overall, the camp was a great success!
