June Instagram Highlights!
Malaysia, Türkiye
At the beginning of the month, YES Abroad celebrated the return of students from Malaysia and Türkiye. These students shared wonderful program and cultural presentations with the U.S. Department of State. What an amazing group, and thank you for sharing your learning!
North Macedonia
After returning from his YES Abroad program year in North Macedonia in 2020, Hikaru Hayakawa joined the founding executive team at Climate Cardinals, a youth-led international non-profit focused on translating climate information. Among other achievements, Hikaru represented Climate Cardinals at the UN Development Programme’s Youth4Climate summit in Rome last October. The event provided the opportunity for international youth climate advocates to come together and brainstorm climate solutions. Way to go, Hikaru!
Thailand
Haken, who returned from the YES Abroad 2023-2024 program in Thailand, shared about his time bonding with his host brother and community through his love for Thai mango sticky rice. He made friends with the seller at his local market while in Thailand, and he even learned to cook the delicious recipe at home with his host brother. What a delightful experience, Haken!
